Starting out as the singer/guitarist for Noisy Pop band Garlic Frog
Diet (2 albums, released on FNAC/Semetary Records, a major french
label), Thierry Holweck (Severin 24), based in Lyon, France, then
decided to develop his own musical ideas. During the many hours spent
in the van, touring, his soundman used to listen to a lot of techno,
Thierry loved this new music, more rebellious and underground than
rock. He decided to buy some old synthesizers and learn how to use
them. His goal was not to imitate the other electro artists but to
create his own material keeping his signature energy and using his
stage experience from his many years of performing. S24's live set are
not limited to turning knobs, it's a show†!
In 2002, he commenced recording. He used the voice of Josie, the 5 year
old daughter of a friend in Minneapolis, to compose one of the songs.
it was recorded and completed in an hour, and sent to Josie as a
christmas present.
A drumming friend(PLP) of Thierry's heard this song, called Free
Chicken, and said who-ah†!, let's go to the recording studio, I want to
play on it, and then you should put it on your CD. So Free Chicken
became the second track of his first record, "Teepee". Thierry at that
time, was in love with a girl in Minneapolis, so he decided to send the
CD to all the radio stations in the area, because he wanted to suprise
her by having her hear his song on the radio, it was his way of
declaring his feelings for her. But the real surprise came when Free
Chicken became the most requested song, and a top ten hit for months on
Radio K, the core of Minneapolis college radio.
That was the beginning of S24 carrer in the States.
2003 the CD "Underworld" produced by the record label
DJConsortium(Florida) was out and promoted thru US college radios with
a substancial success(...a hit in Rhodes Island's States and some
airplay thru the country)
Thierry is now putting the finishing touches on his second record, No
Way . After a successful tour in the U.S. in early 2005, he has been
invited to return there this summer in order to promote the new album. |
